Objectives

After completion of this programme, the participant will be able to:

  • Fullfill the IATA /ICAO training requirement to accept dangerous goods shipments
  • Gain the current/ updated knowledge dangerous goods regulations
  • Learn the updates in the Indian Legal Regime in transportation of dangerous goods to/from/through India
  • Fully understand and differentiate between shipper’s and operators responsibilities;
  • Identify all dangerous goods which are:
    • Forbidden for air transport; or
    • Permitted as cargo in accordance with the technical instructions; or
    • Exempted from the requirements of the technical instructions
  • Identify nine classes of dangerous goods by their principle criteria;
  • Extract the relevant information from the list of dangerous goods and apply the same;
  • Comprehend and apply the packing instructions
  • Properly mark and label dangerous goods package and verify that the marking or labeling requirements have
    been met;
  • Complete a dangerous goods transport document and verify that the information provided thereon complies
    with the technical instructions
  • Using an acceptance checklist, correctly accept or reject a shipment;
  • Comprehend and apply the separation and segregation requirements;
  • Comply with the requirements for providing the pilot-in-command with the pertinent information on the
    dangerous goods on board the aircraft;
  • Recognize and apply the appropriate state and/or operator variations; and
  • Apply relevant emergency procedures
  • Share actual operations experience with others and gain more understanding
