Hazmat First Responder

This Hazmat First Responder course is intended for workers involved in emergency response at the awareness level.

This course is aimed to equip personnel from Airport Rescue & Firefighting, Airlines Staff, Cabin & Cockpit Crew, Ground Handling Agents Cargo Handlers, Personnel employed in HAZMAT & DG Manufacturing Plants and Freight Forwarders with the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to respond to a dangerous goods incident in a safe and effective manner in accordance with the first responders' guide to HAZMAT Emergencies. After completion of this course, participants will be able to perform following functions with enhanced efficiency:

  • Appreciate the classification of Hazmat/DG.
  • Identify the labelling and placard of Hazmat/DG.
  • Perform basic control, containment, and/or confinement operations as a response to a Dangerous Goods incident.
  • Prepare the Hazmat/DG incident report.

    • The instructor should have at least three years’ experience in ARFF to be able to deliver the course.
    • The class room with proper ventilation, light, temperature control equipment, projector, computer, multimedia speakers, seating arrangement for the participants, white board, flip charts, markers and duster etc. should be made available.

    • Should have passed at least Senior Secondary School education
    • Should be medically fit
    • Should be able to read, write and speak English language
